The museum has invited COFEPOW to organise a party to visit the museum on 26 August. An informal service will be held and COFEPOW guests would have the opportunity to lay white orchids on the ‘Singapore’.

The museum offers a super day-out for mining and railway enthusiasts and those interested in the history of the ‘Singapore’ loco. As the repatriation of allied POWs began in September 1945, it wasn’t until 1953 that a fellow ‘POW’, this dockside steam locomotive, returned to the UK, landing at Portsmouth Naval Base. It was taken to the Royal Navy base at Chatham to continue its military service, until sold for preservation in 1972.
