How can I say, "I love you" to the Dad I did not know
How can I hold the hand of him, who died so long ago
How can I gaze upon his face and see a loving smile
How can I feel a strong embrace and hug him for a while

How can I tell him how much I think of him
How can I tell him of the emptiness that I feel within
How can I tell him that I know he had to go
How can I tell him that I do miss him so

How can I know his feelings on that dark, awful day
When he left from Scotland to sail so far away
How can I know his thoughts and his inner fears
How can I know if he cried and shed many tears

How can I know if his thoughts were of home
How can I know if he felt sad and alone
How can I know if he thought he would die
How can I know if he asked himself why?

How can I tell him he is remembered with love
How can I tell him he was watched from above
How can I tell him some day I'll visit his grave
How can I tell him he died my hero and was so very brave

How can I tell him that I am now grown
How can I tell him I have a family of my own
How can I tell him of my wife, daughter and son
How can I tell him how much I love each one

How can I tell him some day in Heaven I will be
How can I tell him that my Saviour I will see
How can I tell him I'll look for another special one
How can I tell him I'll say "Hi Dad, I'm Brian, your Son".

I LOVE YOU DAD
