Wadge, John Hamilton
Corporal - RASC
Death Railway
Died 15th January 2002
My dear Dad (Corporal) John Hamilton WADGE "Jack" RASC, survivor of the Railway, died aged 86 yrs & 4 months on 15th January 2002.
He died 4 hours after being admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital , Kings Lynn, Norfolk, literally in my arms with my children Ben 22yrs and Naomi 14 yrs holding his hands.
I miss him terribly, as the baby of the family ( 46 & half) I was at home with my Dad after my mother died in 1976, and even after I married we all lived in the same dwelling.
Knowing my father and being able to care for him was, without any shadow of a doubt one of the greatest privileges of my life.
He never once felt sorry for himself but grieved until his dying day for his mates, please pray that they will all be reunited now.
Thank you for your time in reading this, I loved him so much, not just as everyone thinks because he was my father, but I loved the soul inside the little body, for all his kindness and optimism and wisdom.
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die
