IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE BAFEPOW COMMITTEE REGARDING THE MONTHLY MEETINGS IN VIEW OF THE CURRENT COVID - 19 SITUATION

On behalf of the BAFEPOW Committee, I am contacting you to let you know that we are suspending our monthly Tuesday meetings that are held at the Holiday Inn in Birmingham until further notice. This is very sad but very necessary in view of the Government’s Public Health recommendations that we avoid unnecessary social contact, especially as many of us are in that 70+ age group that are at risk of possibly becoming very ill if we develop a Corona Virus infection.

We are still hoping to be able to hold the AGM in July as arranged but it may be necessary to delay it. Our main hope is that we will be able to hold the VJ75 Commemorative Lunch that has been booked for Tuesday, August 11th at the Holiday Inn. We haven’t given up on trying to arrange a group trip later this year but, sadly, as the Secret Art of Captivity Exhibition in Liverpool will close in June, I cannot foresee that we will be able to visit it as a group, which is extremely sad.

I will keep sending out my monthly news sheet to you all unless you ask me not to. We are a very close group and I consider you all as friends with a special link - our dear FEPOW. This link binds us together as we meet to chat every month and to catch up with one another, to learn from each other about FEPOW history and, as is our main intention, to remember and to commemorate the FEPOW (and I will always include the Internees and the Romusha!)

Hopefully this crisis will soon come to an end and we will all be back together at the Holiday Inn for our regular meetings. So, on behalf of the committee - keep yourselves safe and stay well!

My very best wishes to you all.

Barbara

Secretary BAFEPOW

P.S. I know that some of you are not able to come to our monthly meetings regularly but you are still very important to us. Please keep in touch as we are a very special group of people - FEPOW descendants, relatives and friends and this crisis will come to an end :-

WE WILL REMEMBER THEM!
