The Heritage Lottery Fund has approved the grant application for the Art of Survival exhibition in Liverpool next year!!
Late yesterday afternoon the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) issued the following news release, see link below, and we are delighted to be able to share this news with you all:
Undoubtedly the success of the recent Crowdfunder appeal contributed greatly to this marvellous outcome. The artwork created at great risk, kept hidden and brought home by these men so long ago has been given public recognition by the awarding of this grant, and work will begin in earnest in the New Year to bring together the plans that we have laid in preparation for this outcome.
We hope that the exhibition will help to bring FEPOW history to a new, younger and wider audience and that yet more artwork may emerge in the process. We will be asking for help again in the lead up to the exhibition opening in October next year, to get word out as widely as possible via social media, so please let us know if you would be willing to help with this. Over the festive period please tell your families and friends about the exhibition and share LSTM’s Captive Memories website (which will be updated shortly – www.captivememories.org.uk). This is where you’ll find updates posted as plans develop, so do keep an eye on it over the coming months.
For now, once again thank you for all your help. We would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
