Over the past few years VJ Commemorations have either not been held or have been severely curtailed as a result of the Covid Pandemic.
With the easing of restrictions, the Lanarkshire Yeomanry Group intends to hold an event on Sunday, 14th August at the St. Brigid's Centre, Newmains.
The format would be along the lines of a social gathering of families and friends of former POWs and those who served in the Far East during WW2. During the gathering there would be a visual presentation inwhich we would tell the story of the POW family member or friend of those attending the event.
If you would be interested in coming along on the day, please would you let us know so that we can begin the process of gathering together the stories of those who endured so much in the Far East during thoseterrible years. Confirmation of numbers would also help us in connection with catering and seating arrangements.
