Voluntary Aid Detachment
Members of the Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) gave volunteer nursing service. Many of the women listed here were the wives of servicemen and volunteers in Malaya, and the record often notes where their husbands were held as prisoners of war.

This list was transcribed by COFEPOW trustee David Brown from photocopies of a wartime record. Each entry shows what was known about the nurse when the original list was compiled, not her eventual fate. Some of those recorded as missing were later found to have been killed, interned or safely evacuated.
